Matthew Hayden was in an unforgiving mood right at the start of the innings
Parthiv Patel lent good support as Chennai raced to 50 in the fifth over
Hayden brought up his fifty off 22 balls
Chennai had raced to 106 for no loss by the half-way mark and was set for a big score
But one magical over from Kevin Pietersen resulted in Patel being bowled for 30
Hayden was run out next ball by a direct hit from Rahul Dravid
Andrew Flintoff's 13-ball 22 pushed the scoring in the final overs, as Chennai ended on 179
Manpreet Gony dealt the first blow during the chase, removing Praveen Kumar off the third ball of the innings
Jacques Kallis put on a spirited display before he fell to Albie Morkel for 24
Flintoff accounted for Ross Taylor as Bangalore were pegged back at 47 for 3
Muttiah Muralitharan struck four balls later, dismissing Kevin Pietersen for a first-ball duck
Muralitharan finally ended with 3 for 11 and was adjudged the Man of the Match
It was quite the experience for Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff, though the latter ended the more happier
